Troubleshooting

If you are having trouble listening to Canopy Radio, here are some suggestions for you to try:

Sound quality is poor

If your sound quality is poor, it is usually related to connection speed. A broadband Internet connection such as DSL, cable, satellite, or T1 will provide the best quality, but even these might slow temporarily.
The processor speed of your computer or the amount of memory (RAM) will also affect the audio quality. A 600 megahertz (MHz) processor or faster is recommended, and at least 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM is required.

Player launches but there is no sound

If you attempt to listen to Canopy Radio and you don't hear sound, you should check the following:

  • Is your system volume too low or muted?
  • Are your speakers or headphones not plugged in fully to the computer? Are they turned off?

There is also a chance that your system's sound drivers are not compatible with the latest version of Windows Media Player. To update drivers, go to the website of the sound card manufacturer.

Still not getting any sound?

If problems with audio continue, and you believe it is not your connection speed or equipment, consider the following issues:

  • Windows Media Player configuration settings might be altered. To fix this, reset Windows Media Player to its original configuration or reinstall Windows Media Player and get the latest version.
  • Your computer's cache might be full. A full cache can reduce performance. To clear up cache space, delete temporary Internet files and remove items from your history.
  • If you are attempting to access the audio stream from a restricted network, it is possible that the proxy server or firewall is configured to block this type of connection.  You will need to speak to your Network Administrator to resolve the problem or try to listen Canopy Radio from a connection outside the restricted network.
